Breakfast! My fav meal.

Seeing as how I'm changing my lifestyle with consumption of healthier foods and attempting to get more workout time logged in. I just wanna share a simple breakfast I love and it's so simple to make (I sound like those cook show chefs)

I started off by lightly toasting the bread (so it doesn't get soggy from the vegs) then placed tomatoes and yellow onions (which are not as spicy and sweeter than the red variety), spread liberally atop the toast.
Then a layer of cucumber and a generous load of lettuce topped off with black pepper for that extra zing. Black pepper is used coz its less spicy then the white, but much more flavorful.
After that, any dressing will be nice and since I'm quite the mustard lover, I'd put on quite a lot of yellow mustard to add some extra taste. I only had yellow mustard at that time, if only Dijon was available. *slurp*
And to add a whole lotta vitamins, some protein and potassium, I made a bowl of oats with non-phosphorus raisins and slices of banana.
As I was about done with my meal, mom turned out a pan of oven baked garlic slices for later. Naturally, being the experimental kind, I 'napped a few to accompany my last bite. Surprisingly, the taste of the baked garlic went superbly with the garden vegs in my sandwich. I guess I just found a new ingredient for the next round :)
This is my usual breakfast if I wake up early (as you can see its dark in the pics) and have a little time for the simple preparations listed above.

Kickin' back Sunday

After a super hectic week, being busy with the new shop and running errands of sorts. I took a breather on Sunday and went to the Pulau Tikus market for breakfast and just watch the rush for Chinese New Year as it does every year.

As I strolled on my jolly way without a thought in mind and a bun in my hand, I noticed the ever imposing "S"-Logo on an old Datsun (Nissan in its hey-day).
This called for further investigation and it turns out to be the Skyline "S" indeed.
What I had here was the 5th generation Skyline also called the C210 in the flesh! (or worn steel sheets if you will..) This model was just before the R30 whence Nissan started to name their Skylines with and "R" prefix.
It was old and rickety, but doubtless, it was a "had-to-be-there" moment when viewing the grandpa of the modern supercar!
After a few quick shots with my handphone cam, I "jolly-ly" strolled along further and came up to an Indian newsstand which I just had a quick glance through looking for automotive magazines. A beaut FD2-R caught my eye and being the first time I'm picking up Shift, it was actually quite a good read and had great coverage all the way up North to Penang.
Being quite absorbed, I was flipping through slowly and as I fingered the last few pages, I'd finally saw it! Our Northern Touge Race Day media coverage and published in a 3 page spread! Thanks a lot to all those that made it happen and to Shift and Hypertune for the opportunity as a feature article.
For all the participants that took part, GO GET ONE! You'll not be dissapointed.. We have two media covers for this event both published in it's Jan '09 issue.
English - my all time fav mag - Hypertune (I'll get a pic of it's cover up soon)
Bahasa Melayu - Shift

Wonderful morning!

Mark and I were just too darn tired with all the pigging out during Deepavali and heavy lunches that we just hopped on and drove the Silver Banana down to e-Gate for a good 'ol Veggie Delight Subway Sandie. It all looked so nice and fresh that there was just nothing left to my resistance... I asked for every type of veggie on offer and every pickle as well.

I had a foot long sandwich for the afternoon filler, along with some iced lemon tea and a couple of soft cookies (which are my fav kind - you get to savor the flavor).
My super sandie bursting with nature's goodness. Tak boleh tutup ni!
This morning, I woke up to smooth flowing bowel movement (much thanks to the amount of vegs y'day) and even smoother traffic on my way to work. I'd just arrived at the traffic light exiting my area and I caught sight of a beautiful rainbow that seemed to stretch all the way to my house (wonder if got pot of gold a tonight?).
It's just these kinda little things that gets me kicking la... I am in a "ponna" (very) bright and cheery mood this morning and with real zest for life.

I guess the best things in life are free and they're meant to be. It's just that marketing and advertisements have conditioned our mindset and averted our eyes on to a more materialistic perception. *point-to-ponder*

Bananas!

I went up to the new Balik Pulau market yesterday morning with my parents for some marketing. The new market looks too clean and organized for that nostalgic Balik Pulau feel. However, it was an improvement as its much more hygienic and brighter than the old market.

Sad thing was that food stalls were also put in the new building and so well organized in fact that I'd lost all calibration of where the "good makan" were situated :(

My mom went on a shopping spree, stocking up on all the household foodstuffs. I was just trailing along when I sighted a cool bunch of bananas. These buggers looked really yummy and ripe, I just couldn't resist.
I had a great breakfast this morning, cereal, oats and sliced banana.. Slurp :P
Added a cuppa orange juice for some vit.C
